Organisations and verification

A person's identity is formed from their relationships with other people and organisations. A public identity is the sum of those relationships.

Individuals make assertions about themselves and about their relationships with other organisations or people. Edentiti provides a way for the individual to verify those assertions.

The person can do this by:

  • Asking an organisation if they have specific information about them.
  • Signing on to another system
  • Providing electronic documents with personal information
  • Asking a trusted person who knows them to verify assertions
  • Point to publicly available information

Verification through Edentiti is an interactive operation between the person and other entities. It is not Edentiti verifying a relationship but it is the individual showing that their assertions are true.

The individual proves it is they making the assertions through a biometric. The biometric can be any combination of:

  • a secret (a password)
  • a device (a telephone they own)
  • or a physical characteristic (voice or photo)
