Multi-Factor Authentication
An authentication factor is a piece of information and process used to authenticate or verify a person's identity for security purposes. Two-factor authentication is a system wherein two different methods are used to authenticate. Using two factors as opposed to one delivers a higher level of authentication assurance.
Edentiti Voice Verification uses three factor identification as standard plus as many other factors as a partner company may require.
When a person calls Edentiti Voice Verification the system checks:
- The VoicePrint of the caller (this is the voice biometric)
- What was said
- The source of the call (phone, caller ID from VOIP)
It measures the likelihood that each of these is correct and establishes a risk score with respect to the identity of the person. This risk score is used by the receiving application to determine the next action to be taken.
In many cases the risk score will be too low to continue and so further information will be sought from the caller. This can be automatic (such as asking the caller to key in their date of birth) or it may require the intervention of a human operator. This operator can be specified by the application and can be a member of the partner company's own staff, or the call can be assigned to an operator supplied by Edentiti.
