Just in Time Collation of Data

Privacy issues arise when information about a person and their transactions is collected and stored. Typically data collected about a person for one purpose is not permitted to be used for other purposes without the express permission of the individual concerned. For organisations there are privacy issues or, as it is often termed, commercial in confidence issues. Organisations often do not want the information collected about a person to be known to competitors.

Edentiti solves both these problems with the use of "just in time collation of data". A person who wishes to collect information about themselves from several databases held by different organisations uses Edentiti to contact the organisations who are then required to supply the information to the person. However, it can be delivered in such a way to hide the identity of the organisation who supplied the information. This then protects commercial in confidence information while still enabling the individual to collate information about themselves and deliver it to a third party.

Collating information is sometimes achieved through organisational "federation" where organisations have agreements with each other to share personal information with the agreement of the person concerned. The Edentiti approach does not require any formal agreement between organisations and only the information for a particular individual at a particular point in time is collated hence the description "Just in Time Collation of Data".
